This training will free you to do your own data collection saving you money and time. An Airborne 1 team member will train your staff to handle, install, calibrate, operate, and uninstall one of our LiDAR sensor units.
REALM is the proprietary software manufactured by Optech and typically distributed to ALTM owners. It is a LiDAR processing software and is the only software which can decode the raw Optech ALTM laser range file information. It also encapsulates the GPS software, Grafnav and IMU software, POSPac. It works by decoding the laser range file and combining this with the IMU-enhanced GPS aircraft trajectory to output ‘raw’ XYZ data points.
GRAFNAV is an off-the-shelf kinematic GPS processing package manufactured by Waypoint. It uses differential GPS processing to combine data from known point, static, GPS ground stations and kinematic GPS data from aircraft or land vehicles to calculate an accurate XYZ trajectory file.
POSPac is the software component of Applanix’s POS AV, which is a highly accurate positioning system containing an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and is a component of Optech’s ALTM sensors. The software can operate both independently from and within Optech’s REALM software. It takes the inertial data from the POS AV and integrates it with precision GPS data to produce a refined, highly accurate aircraft trajectory.
TerraScan is a third-party software manufactured by TerraSolid for the classification and post-processing of LiDAR points. It runs on a Microstation engine and has the ability to organize large sets of LiDAR data into projects so it can be viewed, automatically and manually classified, edited, and output into custom deliverable files. Additional features include digitizing features such as building roofs and detecting transmission line wires.
TerraModeler, another package in the TerraSolid suite of products, is a full-featured terrain modeling application, which runs alongside TerraScan. It creates surface models and contours from survey data, graphical elements, or XYZ coordinate files. It is actively linked to loaded LiDAR points in TerraScan which can aid in the visualization and classification process.
TerraMatch
TerraMatch, also manufactured by TerraSolid, is used in conjunction with TerraScan for the comparison and correction of overlapping LiDAR scan lines. It works by comparing overlapping flight line strips and determines the correct orientation parameters to obtain the best fit and improve the relative accuracy of the dataset.
