Airborne 1 Projects

Over 100 Urban Areas LiDAR (US and International)

Airborne 1 is under contract to collect 47 urban areas (project sizes range from 30 – 100 square kilometers, to date 36 completed) of high resolution LiDAR data collected using an Optech ALTM 3100EA sensor with Litton IMU LN2000 and 2 Novatel Millenium D/L dual frequency GPS receivers set up on known NGS control stations.

Airborne 1 provided flight planning, data collection, and data processing services for this on going project.  Airborne 1 provided bare earth DEM and extracted feature information for use in the creation of 3 dimensional city models.

Monroe County, NY, 2006 – 724 sq miles of LiDAR data collected using an ALTM 3100EA with Litton IMU LN2000 and 2 Novatel Millenium D/L dual frequency GPS receivers set up on known HARN ground monuments. Positional accuracy of the ground GPS receivers was checked statically in Waypoint’s Grafnet then the kinematic GPS trajectory was processed in Waypoint’s Grafnav. IMU data was processed using Applanix’s POSPAC. Laser point computation and output took place in Optech’s REALM. Classification into ground and extracted features was performed in TerraSolid’s TerraScan as was QAQC. RTK profiles were run over the area and checked against the LiDAR point cloud. The resulting statistical analysis was then delivered to the client. Deliverables included Last Pulse Bare Earth Ground and Extracted Features, all in ASCII format. Purpose of project was to create a LiDAR derived DTM from which to create Orthophotos for general planning purposes.
